  Louis Braille invented his system of dot writing in 1825 for the French writing,
  this contains additionaly to the letters of the alphabet 14 accent signs.
  For all these accents he has used its own combination of dots.

  When later by the advice of an English friend the
  letter W was added, were of the possible
  63 combinations already 40 for
  the letters assigned.
